The house of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe Still reeling from the deaths of her mother and sister on the Titanic, Siby Allston is living the life of quiet desperation with her taciturn father and scandal-plagued brother in an elegant town house in Boston’s Back Bay. Trapped in the world over which she has no control, sibyl flees for solace to the parlor of a table turning medium. This was a great story, beautifully descriptive and lavished in every way. It gives you a sort of hope for the future, no matter what your life is like, or what ever you think your life could be like. But I did find that Katherine Howe described how the use of opium in this time period was used, with suspiciously good descriptions of how it felt and how it all worked. This was a great book, for a mature person, 16+. because of the explicity of how she descri To buy this book: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-house-of-velvet-and-glass-katherine-howe/1106010316?ean=9781401340919 |

It is a fantastic book. Inspiring me to do more art and more colorful things. Review on Starsplit By Kathryn Lasky A Deadly discovery. Darci Murlowe is not your typical genetically enhanced thirteen-year-old living in the year 3038. Unlike most of the people around her, she wonders what the point of her life is. If Everything has been mapped out in her DNA-her strengths, talents, what she’ll be like as an adult-what interesting surprises could possibly await her? Darci’s dread of predictable life is soon replaced by terror when she is accused of committing the most shocking capital crime-a crime for which she herself is the evidence. But even as her life is threatened, she is liberated by a dawning awareness of the intangible thing that transcends her genetic profile: a soul. I enjoyed Star Split. It was a quick, easy read. Good for anyone who likes Sci-Fi books, and even those who don’t will get a good read from this book. The author spent enough time on detail to encase me quickly in this future world. Star Split is a great book. But I didn’t like this book, there are many things about how good it is on the back, it sounded good. The plot seemed good. But once I got into it, it just seemed like the author used foul language as a staple for contecting together bad writing. If she had tempered that sailor mouth, it would have been a way better book. thank you to blogging for books though, that I got this for free Review on Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce Young Daine's knack with horses gets her a job helping the royal horsemistress drive a herd of ponies to Tortall. Soon it becomes clear that Daine's talent, as much as she struggles to hide it, is downright magical. Horses and other animals not only obey, but listen to her words. Daine, though, will have to learn to trust humans before she can come to terms with her powers, her past, and herself. Wild Mage is a delightful addition to all the Tortall books. With great, charismatic characters, intriguing magic, and magical action that laces this book with fun laughable and scary moments. Daine is different from other Tortall ladies, she is a little feminine on top of all of her badassness. She also has an intriguing past that keeps you wonder and clutching for the next chapter. Tamora Pierce is one of my favorite authors and I would recommend any of her books. And one is hiding a secret that could cost them their lives. Piper has never seen the Mark of the Dragonfly until she finds the girl amid the wreckage of a caravan in the Meteor Fields. The girl doesn’t remember a thing about her life, but the intricate tattoo on her arm is proof that she’s from the Dragonfly Territories and that she is protected by King Aron. Which earns a reward for Pipe if she can get the girl home. The one sure way to the Territories is the 401, a great old beauty of a train. But a ticket costs more coin than Piper could make in a year. And stowing away is a difficult prospect-everyone knows that getting past the peculiar green-eyed boy who stands guard is nearly impossible. Life for Piper just turned Dangerous. A little bit magical. And very excited, if she can manage to survive the journey. The Mark of the Dragonfly is an amazing book. This strange, steampunk world enthralled me at every turn. Right what you think you have this world figured out, Jaleigh Johnson throws something excited and unexpected at you. With a wonderful three tiered plot, and interesting feeling this book kept me wanting more. The Character Anna, which I loved, seemed to reminisce River Tam from the amazing and shouldn’t have been canceled Firefly TV show and conjoining movie, Serenity. But the Author really surprised me near the end with a big reveal I could have seen but didn’t. This was a GREAT book. And I am waiting anxiously, wide eyed, and praying, that there is in fact a sequel to this amazing book. PLEASE JALEIEGH JOHNSON, I WANT A SEQUEL!! Blue dolphins splash in the water surrounding it, sea otters play in the kelp beds, and seabirds roosting its crags. Once, Indians also lived on the island-until one day they decided to leave and sail to the east. A young boy was left behind, and his sister jumps the boat to get him. Then they are both left behind. Karana is that girl. Year after year, she waits for the ship to come back. But it never does. Finally. She realizes she must make a fareful choice: follow her people on her own or remain alone on the island for the rest of her life. This is a great book. I love the tale that Scott O’Dell weaves. It gives you a raw emotion that is easy to see and realize. Although I believe in the beginning it lacked attachment and feeling to the brother, and you felt more for the dog when he died. But I love this book and it is inspiring. His depth and knowledge of the Indians show in this beloved classic. But it didn’t last lon. Turns out, Olympia is alive-and when her amnesia vanishes she remembers her previous queenly glory, there’s no stopping her desire to snatch back the crown. Oh, and Christian and Marigold? Even royalty doesn’t always see eye to eye. Maybe ther’re not the perfect couple after all. With so much trouble afoot, one thing’s for curtain: Happily-ever-after isn’t this story final chapter. Yet. But on that note, I didn’t finish this book because just 40 pages in it because wildly inappropriate. I was looking for a good, pleasant read and got a dirty sci-fi world instead. He had everything right except the true meaning of a book. To enjoy it. I was thoroughly disgusted and am wondering why blogging for books would advertise this book at all. I would not recommend this to anyone. And I don’t plan on finishing it. It was a great idea, a great fantasy world. But the author ruined it. DON"T BUY THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU ENJOY DISGUSTING IMMORALITY |
