Not One More is a good catch phrase: but it can never be.
So, I keep seeing so many things about Mass shootings, they are becoming a sad and redundant. Why? Because there are so many copy cats and phycho people out there.
Now I am not saying 100% of mass shootings happen because people are crazy, defiantly not. But I can tell you 100% of gun violence happen because people are stupid. Why so many? Why isn’t anyone stopping them? Hold that thought, for just a second. The question I hear SO many people ask is “Why isn’t anyone doing anything to stop them?” Then let’s rewind that statement. Do you have a body? Do you have a voice? Then freakin stop it yourself.
Stop telling people to stop this, stop saying “Do something!” when you yourself is sitting their motionless.
Another problem is this idea of a utopian society. There is no way to achieve this. Our founding fathers knew this when they revolted, the monarchy had gotten too big for its britches, and so they had to stop it. And how did they do that? By fighting back. By getting guns and shooting their way to freedom.
Now I am not saying we should revolt, quite the opposite.
I remember when I was a kid, and my dad would bring guns out to clean. He would clean the rifles, and then set them on the dinningroom table. He would turn to us four kids. And tell us: “Now don’t touch those guns. These guns aren’t toys.” We knew by his tone we shouldn’t touch those guns. So we were obedient, because he would tell us: “Guns are dangerous.”
Now, once I was older, my dad let me hold guns, and eventually i got to shoot them in a safe place. I was NEVER scared of guns, and I have known them all my life. I was taught that a gun was a tool, and to not fear the tool, but fear the one holding it if they bare you ill will. Now, lets back up and reflect on that thought ok? Someone punches you in the face, it’s their fault, right? If someone stabs you, it’s their fault. And just the same, if someone shots you, it is the killer’s fault, not the tool by which they killed you.
In japan, they are not allowed to have guns. Does that mean they have no mass killings? Nope. They have mass stabbings in school. Taking the thing that someone kills with isn’t going to stop the murder, it is only forcing the criminal to find other means in which to kill them. Woah, lets back up a second shall we?
Who kills people, well criminals do.
Where do Criminal’s get their guns?
Illegally.
So how is taking away the legal guns going to help this? That’s like saying “This kid isn’t allowed to have candy, so let’s take the candy away from all the kids.” Now, that does stop the other more responsible kids from having candy, but what is stopping that kid from going across the street to the candy shop, buying a candy bar and eating it? Well. Nothing.
In conclusion to this. Taking guns away from people who are using them to protect themselves is like stealing a parachute from someone in midair, sure, their lighter and can move faster, but what happens when they make the inevitable way to the ground, and the person next to you can’t get to you in time to give you your parachute?
Splat.
