I am reading this really good book by Caitlyn Kittredge. The Iron Thorn.
I love this book, its in the first person prospective, and its in a steampunk era. The main character Aoife is studying to be a Engineer, her mother in a mad house and her brother who is a convict from the Protectors tried to kill her last she saw her. The Protector's are the law and order of the land, throwing a label of heresy on any kind of fantasy or magic.
Aoife's love for her brother even though he had tried to kill her makes her run away and meet a dangerous, handsome guild named Dean, that takes Aoife and her best friend, Cal out of the city without the Protector's knowledge, to find Aoife's father's house.
She is faced with many dangers, including the idea that she will soon go mad on her 16 birthday, like her brother, and her mother had.
Will her father accept his basterd child? But when she reaches Greystone she doesn't find what she expects.
I would defiantly recommend this book.
